Wigs In The Workplace: How To Master Wearing A Wig At Any Job

If you're a regular wig wearer, you've most likely felt the stress of deciding which wig to wear to work. Is it appropriate? What if it doesn't look good? Will anyone make comments? We know we've definitely stressed over those questions in the past! In this blog, we're covering all the bases when it comes to wearing wigs in the workplace so read on for the full rundown.
What Type Of Wig Is Best For Work?
No one size fits all when it comes to wigs at work. What type of wig you go for can depend on lots of different factors. Some common ones include your employee dress code and the day-to-day tasks within your job role.
If you're working in an office with a strict dress code, it might be best to leave your bubblegum pink for the weekends with your friends (while following social distancing measures, of course, but if you're lucky to work in an environment that promotes and embraces individual expression, don't be afraid to wear whatever wig you want).
Don't forget to think about whether you're going for a closure wig or frontal wig. While frontals can give the appearance of your wig being real, they're very high-maintenance. If you're the type to skip breakfast in favour of ten more minutes in bed and you know you're sprinting for the tube every morning, maybe opt for a closure wig instead. They're much easier and quicker to put on meaning they're great for that morning work rush.

Once you've decided what style of wig you're going for, don't forget to attach it the correct way. You might be tempted to stick to the regular clips and combs combo but did you know how damaging they can be to your hair? Not only can they contribute to causing Traction Alopecia but they're also not as secure as you think. The last thing you want is your wig slipping off your head in the middle of the day.
Lucky for you, The Renatural has got your back with The Wig Fix. A silicone hair gripper, this unique invention uses the natural gripping abilities of silicone to keep your wig firmly in place all day long without any discomfort. It's not only rollercoaster proof but also has the seal of approval from one of StyleCaster's leading beauty editors. Doesn't get much better than that, if you ask us.
The Wig Fix plus a closure wig is the perfect combination for getting your hair work ready in five minutes flat.

Navigating Those Questions
Are you wearing a wig? Can I touch it? But isn't it hot? I don't know how you wear that all day.
Those are just a few examples of the type of questions regular wig wearers are commonly asked. Getting asked them once or twice isn't always a big deal but they get very old, very fast.
How you go about answering them (if you choose to answer them at all) is completely up to you. Whilst you can choose to humour those questions no matter how many times you get asked them, you're also perfectly within your rights to ask your colleagues to stop bugging you with their questions.
They may be curious and you may want to educate them but firmly and politely saying you don't want to talk about it is fine too. Don't make anyone let you feel guilty about not wanting to discuss the ins and outs of your wigs.

Own It
Lastly, the most important thing to keep in mind when wearing wigs at work–or, anywhere for that matter–is to own it. Your wig, while a part of you doesn't define you. How you wear it and why you wear it are completely up to you so show it off with confidence!
