Celebrities Who Now Wear Wigs After Ruining Their Hair

When we think about actors being invested in a role what often comes to mind is those who look towards method acting (like Kendall Roy in Succession) or those who get fit for their role but we rarely think about the toll a role may take on an actors hair.

Many actors and artists who have had their hair damaged due to bleaching their hair for a roll have since had to use selective styles to work with the damage or have turned towards wigs in their day to day life and for other roles. While we love a transformation in your fav shows and movies we hate to see it at the sake of healthy hair.

5 celebrities who's damaged hair turned them towards wigs

Starring in 7 long seasons of Pretty Little Liars all centered around a murder and looking for the elusive 'A', the series featured the murder of a teenage girl and Ashley Bensons hair. After 3 seasons of bleaching Ashley's hair it began falling out to the point that Warners Bros became involved asking her to do something about it. Leaving her to turn towards wigs that unfortunately suffered the same bad continuity the show did.

Ariana Grande Hair Damage due to bleach and dying

Insider l Ariana Grande Why She Always Wears a High Ponytail

Ariana Grande stared in multiple Nickelodeon shows like Victorious and Sam & Cat where she frequently dyed her hair to match the red hair of her character. After years of bleaching and dying her hair for the role she began wearing a high ponytail that has since become her signature look. While the hairstyle started out of necessity to hide her damaged hair she has since continued to wear her hair in this way because she has grown to like the look. We love a silver lining to any not ideal situation like hair loss and damage can be!

Since her hair was healthy she was able to take the hair from her cut for a new wig that she used for her role in Doctor Who.

While there are many celebrities who have experienced the mistake of frequent bleaching and dying for a role causing hair loss there are some who have smartly adopted wigs from early on in their career. We can look at pop icons Lady Gaga and Kim Petras who has both used wigs to transform their looks while keeping their hair healthy!

We couldn't sum up why we love wigs better than this! It's not only a means of expression but a way to protect our hair while we experiment. While upcoming actors may continue to fall into the trap of consistent dying for a role leading to hair damage we hope that more hair departments for major shows and movies will look to wigs as a means of world building!
