How to Wear a Wig to the Beach this Summer

How to Wear a Wig to the Beach this Summer

If you’re uncontrollably booking holidays like we are, then there’s one question consistently racking your brain at night - what’s gonna happen to my wig on my vacay?! If you’re staying loyal to your bundles this Summer on the beach, keep reading - we have tips that may just put your mind at ease!

Tip 1: Minimal Maintenance = Curly Wigs

Water wave, bodywave and loose wave wigs may just be your saving grace on the beach. These wigs need constant sprays of water to produce the wet’n’wild curls we all love in general - now that you're in the sea and the pool all day long, this acts like a cheat code! However, the only issue is when that wig dries… you’ll see the true damaging effects of chlorine and hard ocean saltwater. So as soon as you’re done glorifying your luscious locks and curls in the pool/sea, quickly run to your hotel room and give your wig a deep cleanse. And yes, we mean conditioner and all...do not try to skip the conditioning step!

Tip 2: Get in Formation
You need to ensure you have everything set - ladies, get in formation. First step, grab yourself a wig grip, such as the Vogue-recommended and influencer-favourite, The Wig Fix. The very last thing you need is your wig falling off while playing beach volley-ball or whilst taking brunch shots by the pool. Make sure you keep your wig sturdy and in place to reduce any possibility of wig-flying!

Tip 3: We Said it Before and We’ll Say it Again…
Don’t skip your aftercare routine! It’s a huge huge must that after returning from your wild beach festivities, you graciously return to your hotel room and give your wig the TLC it deserves. First, gently comb the wig from the bottom up to rid of any tangly knots. Then, wash the wig before adding a sulfate-free shampoo to the mix. Next, you’ll want to rinse the hair of shampoo and add your silky-smooth conditioner. We’d recommend Olaplex No.4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo. Now that your wig is washed and conditioned, you're ready to hang it up to dry while you sleep! And then yes, repeat tomorrow after each time your wig makes contact with the sea/pool.
